A genuine piece of photographic history — the Camera-Lite Model B by Suzuki Optical Co. is one of the most iconic subminiature cameras ever made. Disguised as a standard Zippo-style petrol lighter with a distinctive diamond-pattern silver finish, this ingenious Japanese device conceals a fully functional camera for 6×6 mm exposures on 8 mm roll film (20 exposures per cassette).
The Camera-Lite was born out of cinematic fame: after the predecessor model Echo 8 appeared in the 1953 Paramount film Roman Holiday starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, demand far outpaced supply. Suzuki responded with the Camera-Lite — and the Model B represents the refined version, adding a two-speed B/I shutter lever (Bulb and Instant) over the front edge of the lens.
This example is in good, fully working collector's condition. Shutter and lighter mechanism both function correctly. An honest, displayable piece with the unmistakable character of the Cold War subminiature era.
