Antique Gilt Metal Cake or Pastry Server with Repoussé Female Figure and Acanthus Scrollwork
CHF 650.00 Material: CHF 160.00 + Premium: CHF 490.00
A decorative cake or pastry serving tool, approximately 18–22 cm in length, comprising a flat or slightly angled serving blade or spatula element joined to a large lozenge-shaped openwork decorative handle terminal. The handle terminal is cast and chased in high relief in the Rococo Revival / early Art Nouveau manner, featuring a central female bust or demi-figure (possibly a muse or allegory) framed by a circular cartouche, surrounded by exuberant acanthus leaf scrolls, floral sprays and pierced foliate ornament. The upper portion of the terminal bears a scrolled crown or coronet-like finial. This form is consistent with Continental European dessert and pastry servers of the Belle Époque period, intended for use at formal table settings or afternoon tea. The casting quality is fine with well-defined detail. The warm gilt tone and ornate style are typical of high-end Continental decorative flatware and serving pieces of the late 19th to early 20th century. No visible hallmarks or maker's marks in images provided; material cannot be confirmed as silver without further testing.
